Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
Bankruptcy Question
While my husband has filed for personal bankruptcy, I have not. We have a joint mortgage (though I pay it out of my SSI check every month) & a Money Market fund. His lawyer has told me to sign a ''Statement Regarding Pay Stubs.'' I am leery yo sign anything because I'm worried I'll get stuck paying his debts. Am I being paranoid (as he claims) or do I have a legitimate concern? Thank you for you FREE legal advice!

Re: Bankruptcy Question
If you live together he cannot file or complete a case without reporting your income even if you do not file. Since none of us have seen the form, no one here can tell you if you should sign THAT form, but there will be at least one thing he does need from you. If it's the right form, it won't affect you as to any debt that is not joint. Without seeing it we don't know what it says.
