Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
Can a bankruptcy trustee accelerate a structured settlement lump sum not due for 7 years after filing filing bankruptcy and then get paid as the trustee and also as the attorney filing for the acceleration?

Often, yes, but that is a question for the lawyers in the case and the Judge who has to approve it all.

Maybe. Without reading the petition, the structured settlement and what the trustee filed there is no way to answer. The attorney for the debtor is the one who will know the answer.
