Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia

Bankruptcy_Foreclosure

Background Info: My ex wife has filed for chapter 13 and is planning on walking away from her home. Her home has 3 mortgages, 2 of which are in both our names. Uncontested divorce with her to refi and I gave a quit claim deed... apparently a common and very bad mistake . She could not refi... I could not afford the payments, but she could have but dug herself into a hole... We are way upside down in the mortgages. Her BK Lawyer told her that with her chpt 13 that neither of us would be responsible for the mortgages but the mortgages aren't part of her restructure...

Questions: What liabilities do I have? And what remedies may be available just short of taking over mortgage payments? Should I expect the Mortgage cos. to come after me? And if bankruptcy be my future, shouldn't I do it prior to any judgements?

Re: Bankruptcy_Foreclosure

You need a lawyer - NOW. In some cases, what you file in her bankruptcy may help. In some case you may need to take other steps. And, depending on what she filed, you may be okay. But there is no way to answer that without reading the divorce papers and her filing.
