Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia

Car Repossesion

What happens when you let a car go back after paying on it for 3 years? My husband has been unemployed for 3 yrs. now and I am the only one in the household who is working. He has seizures and keeps getting turned down for disability. I have no choice it is either my car or my house and I have to provide a home for my children.

Re: Car Repossesion

In general they sell the car for a fraction of what you owe, and sue you for the difference. Once the win the suit, it becomes a lien against your home. Often you will owe just as much or more than you owe now. Before letting the car go back, see a lawyer, as you may have better options (sucha s bankruptcy) to protect yourself and your home. Call me if we can assist you with that.
