Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and Ex-Wife

My husband and I just filed chapter 13 bankruptcy. I know that his ex-wife had to be notified that we filed since he pays child support. But, from what I understand they gave her all the ins and outs of the case. I'm talking about what we had and what we filed bankruptcy on. Is that legal?? It seems like his ex-wife really didn't need to know all that information. I'm very frustrated!

Re: Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and Ex-Wife

Your lawyer should have explained this to you, but everything in your case is a public record, and a bankruptcy completely discloses every asset and other piece of financial information about you. Ex-wives, employers, neighbors and strangers can all read everything.
