My ex-husband owed me money to be paid within 5 years as part of our divorce settlement. He recently filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Was he able to discharge this debt?

Marital obligations are non-dischargeable. However, to make sure you are protected, get a lawyer to review his bankruptcy filing and determine if you need to do anything there. Do that less than 4 weeks from his filing date. The bankruptcy may in some aspects affect you so doing this on time is vital.
