Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
Filed a product liability lawsuit in September 2013. Filed bankruptcy in May of 2015 and it was discharged in August.
Product liability was disclosed at bankruptcy hearing and is listed as exempt but states debtor reservers the right to amend. Now settlement will be paid soon. What happens to the settlement. It was chapter 7.

Unless your settlement was tiny there's no way to keep and exempt it. The settlement must be reported to the trustee who will likely grab much of it. Call your lawyer asap to run the numbers.
