Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia

If I fille for bankruptcy, what happens to my licenses

I want to file for bankruptcy, but my licenses where suspended because of an accident. I was sued and I owe close to $27,000. How will I get my licenses back?

Thanks

The bankruptcy filing will not affect any criminal or administrative suspensions of your license, or any fines. You can still file for bankruptcy and recieve a discharge of other debts, such as credit cards, medical bills, etc. Feel free to call with any questions. Good luck.

If you had filed before October 17, in most cases, you could have immediately goten your license back. The new bankruptcy law makes it more difficult to accomplish, and if you can (we'd need more details) it might not happen until the discharge in 4-6 months. The nature of teh accident will affect the answer. You may want to go to www.glenashman.com, fill out one of our worksheets and set an appointment for us to review that and the accident report with you.
