Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia

Giving up house during bankruptcy

I am going to file chapter 7 and give up my house. Should I move to an apartment prior to filing or should I wait until after? Some property management companies do not want to rent to bankrupt tenants.

Re: Giving up house during bankruptcy

Since the bankruptcy laws are about to change, and since if you make the wrong choice you can't fix it after the fact, see a lawyer before you do anything and do it now. (Too long a delay may also leave you ineligible to file, thanks to the new law, depending on your situation).

If you're in the Atlanta area, get a free worksheet at www.glenashman.com and call me at 404-768-3509 and I'll be glad to talk with you further.
