Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
responsibility for car lease
i need to know what my options are for turning in a leased car that i cannot pay for with 9 months left on the lease
will they be able to charge me all the fees and remaining payments and will they sell the car at auction and charge me the difference, my credit is not good and i would also like to know if filing bankruptcy would help or is this not necessary to do. thanks for your help

Re: responsibility for car lease
If you turn in a car early, not only will that harm your credit for 7 years, but under most leases you will owe as much or more than you owe now, except you won't even have the car.
If you have a lot of debt, a bankruptcy may be an option. That would also get rid of the lease with no financial obligation, if you qualify to file. If you will go to www.glenashman.com and fill in the bankruptcy worksheet (see the link on that page) and then call me at 404-768-3509, I'd be glad to review your information and see if bankruptcy is an answer for you.
