Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
Slow as a Snail Lawyer.
I filed attempted to file a Chapter 7 Bankrupcy with a lawyer that was recommended by a friend.I have paid all the money he asked to file $1050.00 to be exact. It has been about three months since and I keep calling him and he keeps giving me the run around and not giving me a case number and I have yet to receive a letter in the mail from a court like I was told I would any day now SUPPOSEDLY! Is there anything I can do to force him to file this.I do have my bank statements showing he has cashed my checks and I have a letter that states I have retained him and he would be filling my bankrupcy in the near future. What can I do to make him complete this AREADY!!!

1. Are you sure you have done everything a debtor is supposed to do in a Chapter 7? The new law has a number of requirements to be satisfied either before or immediately after filing, and this may be slowing up the process.
2. If you are sure of this, a stern letter suggesting that he either file immediately or face a complaint to the bar will get his attention.

Assuming you have done everything you must do (credit counseling etc), call the State Bar of Georgia to make a complaint. Usually the first thing they will do is talk to him, and unless he wants to risk his license, he'll get to work or refund your money.
