Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
Being sued
How does a credit card company collect their money after successfully suing a person.? The judge signed the papers without even a court day. Can the credit card people sieze a bank account, which in effect could cause rent and car payments to bounce? If so, would they have to give at least a few days notice?? thank you

Yes, they can take funds from bank accounts, part of your wages, etc. There is rarely notice - for obvious reasons.

You don't get a court date unless you file a proper response. Once you lose, garnishments happen with no advance notice (otherwise they wouldn't work since you'd take the money out) and they can seize the whole account.
