worker's comp benefit check and bankruptcy
If I've filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy (has been filed with the court but the creditors hearing is in 3 weeks) and I've just received a worker's comp claim payment (didn't know I was getting), how will receipt of that payment affect my bankruptcy?

This is an asset of your bankruptcy estate. You must report the receipt (in fact, you should have reported the claim), and the money will be used to pay your creditors.
You should consult a bankruptcy attorney immediately to explore your options.

Only your attorney can answer that, and it is vital that you call him immediately so he can file any needed amendments. You should have reported the claim already and the money should be reported.
