Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

Bell South Advertisement

I am a business owner my telephone service is Bellsouth. I am the authorized person on the acct. Bellsouth Advertisement Agency contact a girl that work in the office part time. That got her to sign contracts for advertisement on the computer and others. When the charges started on my phone bill I made phone calls and found out that Bellsouth Advertisement could get anyone that worked for me to okay new advertisements if the said they were authorized to do so. But, the charges were billed on my Bellsouth acct. This was about two years ago. Is this legal?

Re: Bell South Advertisement

The answer of whether Bellsouth could properly charge you for the services authorized by your part-time employee depends on whether it was reasonable for Bellsouth to infer form the situation that the employee actually had authority. However, keep in mind that you used the services you will probably be deemed to have consented to the advertisement. In addition, you can certainly pursue a claim against the employee for signing up for the services if she was not authorized, but it is doubtful that she would have much to go after.
