Re: Doing Business As (DBA) requirements

To operate under a trade name, you must:

1) Complete a standardized form entitled "Application To Register a Business To Be Conducted Under A Trade Name" and file it with the Clerk of Superior Court in the county where you are domiciled with a filing fee of $14.00;

2) Send a copy of the form to the designated advertising publication in your county with the applicable publication cost (probably $20.00). The form for Fulton County has the name of the publishing company on the form (The Daily Report Company) and contact information.

The form can be obtained from the Clerk of Superior Court of your county. In Fulton County, you can download the form from the county website at: www.co.fulton.ga.us/SuperiorCourtClerk/. You may also be able to download the form from your county's website. If not call the Clerk of Superior Court for your county - they will mail you a copy.

One more thing: How do you know if the trade name is available? You can visit the Clerk's office and inquire OR you can call the Clerk and they will refer you to the Trade Name department where they will check their records and let you know (probably in the same call). If you were in Fulton County, you would call the Trade Name Dept at 404-730-5371; the Clerk of Court at 404-730-5313.

Good Luck!
