Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

Cancellation of wedding consulting contract.

I have a contract with a bride and groom for planning their wedding. For conditions I will not discuss, I need to cancel their contract. My contract states ''This aggreement may be cancelled by either party in writing for any reason.'' I intend to send a certified letter that states ''This letter will serve as written notice of cancellation of our agreement dated...per the terms and conditions of the said agreement. This cancellation is effective upon receipt.'' - will this be enough to cancel? Do I need to have an attorney's name and phone number for further communication on there as well?

Re: Cancellation of wedding consulting contract.

If we are only going by the language of the contract you quoted, it seems fairly straightforward. Note that cancellation does not necessarily terminate obligations with respect to payments, deposits, etc. As for using the name of a lawyer, presumably you would have to pay the lawyer for the time spent on getting up to speed before you send the letter and for fielding any calls. Only you can decide whether it is worth the expense, or the chances of a dispute.

I think your are on good grounds. However, just to be safe, I would suggest that you have the contract reviewed by a local attorney.
