Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia
How do I classify this service
I want to start a business helping the homeless on the streets of atlanta. Offering access to phones, job resources, counseling, training and low income housing ect. And/or connect them with other resources that are available. The problem is that I do not know how to classify it (nonprofit, limited liability, sole proprietor.) Can someone please assit me in determining what would be best and why? I would greatly appreciate and use your expertise.

Re: How do I classify this service
What type of business you should create depends on many factors and some have certain restrictions. In any case, you need to create a business entity that would shield you from personal liability, i.e., if your company was sued, they could not go after your personal assets.
You also need to consider all tax consequences for each entity. I would suggest an entity with pass-through taxation, which means that the company itself would not pay taxes. You would pay them on a personal level.
If you would like to discuss any issues further, please feel free to contact my office. My contact information is below. Thank you.
