If an employee signs a no compete clause with an employer and the company is sold, does the new owner attain all the rights of the original clause with the first owner?

If the entire business entity was sold (as opposed to just the assets), the contract is still with the same party so it could likely be just as valid as it was before the sale. Many more facts and a review of the document would be required for a firm answer.
