Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

Employer Expense Reimbursements

My previous employer admittedly owes me over $7,000 in previously approved reimbursement expenses. Plus at my previous CEO's request I set up two business American Express Cards in which the company ran up over $30,000 charges. I can't get the CEO to reimburse me for th $7,000 plus now AMX is coming after me for the $30,000 in business AMX charges.

Also the company owes me over $50,000 in deferred salary.

What are my legal options?

Re: Employer Expense Reimbursements

Obviously, there is much more to the story and relationship, so your best option is to either keep trying to work with the company or see a lawyer for further collection efforts.

Well, if your question is about legal options with respect to AMEX, you may not have any "legal options." That view is based on the assumption that the cards are either in your name or there some kind of joint account with joint and several liability. Im other words, AMEX likely has all the leverage and may be very few ways for you to avoid liability.

As to your legal options with your previous employer, if your efforts to obtain payment continue to be fruitless, getting an attorney involved to either negotiate a settlement or iniate a lawsuit seems to be your primary legal option. An attorney can also help you evaluated where you stand with AMEX.

Re: Employer Expense Reimbursements

Your options depend on more facts than you have given. You should consult with a local attorney. And if "coming after you" you mean that they have sued you, you should ASAP consult with a lawyer. If you would like to discuss, feel free to call.
