Forced to ride a motorcycle without insurance
I'm a mechanic at a motorcycle dealership and my boss tells me that riding customers bikes is in my job description but yet if/when I have an accident it will be my responsibilty to pay for the damages. Can he legally do this?

Re: Forced to ride a motorcycle without insurance
Sure, it is legal for him to tell you that. That won't stop either of you from getting sued. The reality is that you are almost always going to be primarily responsible for accidents that are your fault (and maybe when it is not). The availability of insurance, yours or the businesses, is just a deep pocket and if you are on company time the employer will likely get sued as well if not resolved. If you knowingly drive without the appropriate insurance, you may also face losing your license, and it won't be an excuse that someone else told you to do it. The ultimate choice is the person getting behind the wheel. Check your personal insurance for coverage, make sure the owner has it, or risk a problem.
