Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia
My husband passed away June 24 2016. He was a 50% owner of a small corporation with an xfriend of his. The two of them were not in speaking terms at the time of his death. My question is this is there a time frame on taking him to court for monies owed to me and his children for his shares if the company?

Maybe yes and maybe no, depending in part on the corporate paperwork, but you also may face time limits based on the statute of limitations, which may have run or be close to running, depending on when the obligations allegedly were incurred. As a pratical matter, waiting almost a year was a very bad plan, and you should seek legal help immediately. Until his estate is opened for probate, no one will have the authority to pursue a claim, so start by finding a probate attorney in your area today. You may need other legal help after that.
I agree 100% with Mr. Ashman. Do not delay in hiring a good attorney.
