Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

My husband is renting a body shop from his previous employer. He signed a lease agreement but the document was not notorized. a couple of months later, the landlord brought us back the lease agreement notorized, without having my husband sign the document infront of the notary. We are trying to get out of the lease. Since it was not notorized properly, is the contract void?

You did not tell us why there is a requirement that it be notarized. Does the lease require a notarized signature? Rarely will that be the case (for a lease or other contracts).

Probably not. Leases do not generally need to be notarized.

Since leases do not need to be notarized in most cases, that's irrelevant to be bound by the lease.

You might be able to get the notary's license revoked, if that matters to you.
