Recently we bought a business, and then resell it to another person. The new owner recently received a law suit letter from a patron who fall in the store when the orginal owner still own the store.(time period is about 1 yr.) In this case am i reliable for it. I did not know that there is a case pending when i bought the store.

Re: Injury law suits
There are a number of issues here. First, is a claim of indemnification or joinder being made against you as a former owner? From your post, it appears that the original slip and fall occurred before you bought the business. If this is true, did the current owner (or the plaintiff in the case) bring in the old owner? Also, did you get any assurances from the old owner as to any potential claims? Along the same lines, did you give any such assurances to the new owner?
The bottom line is that you probably need to speak with an attorney to determine your potential liability. If you have been brought into any suit, that suggestion goes double.
