LLCs

I have an interior design business, my husband is starting a landscaping business. Can we set up one LLC to encompass both businesses?

Re: LLCs

You can do it, but be careful. First, talk to your tax advisor. Then, consult with a knowledgeable attorney about setting up the LLC. You want to make sure that, e.g., if your husband's business gets sued, it won't affect your business. For the relatively small cost, you might conclude it it better to have two LLC's.

Re: LLCs

Certainly. Although it may make more tax and administrative sense to create two LLCs, however, there is no such legal requirement. In addition, you could register one or more trade names that would reflect each side of the business. E.g. Smith Industries, LLC d/b/a "Smith Interior Designs" and also "Smith Landscaping."
