Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia
We are a medical office. When a patient fails to pay a bill, the account is turned over to a collection agency. The agency takes 27% of the amount due when they collect. Are we allowed to add that 27% to the past due amount? (state of Georgia)

No one here has your agreement with your patient. What does it say? Often, absent an agreement, the cost of collection is a cost of doing business. Even if you tried to add it to the bill in the contract, the collector would take 27% of that too.
What does your contract say? You can't do anything that is not in your written contract with your patient. I assume you have one but you have not told us what it says.
Yes, but it would need to be in some agreement with the patient.
