Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia
We have notified a customer that we will try to assume ownership of something of theirs that we have in our possession. They owe a substantial amount of money and are refusing to pay. What do we need to do to make it legal to assume ownership of their equipment?

It depends on what type of property it is and whether or not you are entitled to exercise a lien on that property. Consult with a local attorney.
