While a registered agent is important there are dozens of things you need a lawyer for more (and also usually a CPA). The main duty of a registered agent is simply to receive service of lawsuits. As for fees a lawyer would need to know far more about your plans and needs to answer, and you'd need to actually sit down with a lawyer.
The registered agent likely won't cost you anything extra from the lawyer who handles the incorporation. Your question tells is that you do need one. Not only do you have the usual state requirements, you have to go through the process of getting the entity approved by the IRS. That can be a process that takes months.
