As is sales private sales
I bought a car from an private party as is. The car caught fire the 3 days after I purchased it. Do I have any legal recourse? If so what?

You can sue him in small claims court. However, your chances of success are almost nil. Buyer beware.

Not if you agreed to buy it as-is and there was no warranty or other term in the contract that would give you a right.
