Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia
I have been served by a student loan company. The are seeking judgement in the amount of almost $60,000. I signed for loan at 17 in 2003, and then at 19 in 2005, cosigned with my father and never finished school at the institution the loan was used for. The debt is mine, they have provided promissory note so there is no delaying them by requesting proof. I have been unemployed since last payment on the loan in 2009,and have been in school since 2009 completing the degree I never got to finish. What are my options for keeping this debt on me and not having them harass my father? What verbiage should I use when responding to the clerk/court? And what are my options for dealing with judgement if I am currently in school, can prove it, and with promise to pay when I complete my degree in education?

Unless you pay it, they can and will likely go after your father. You're probably eligible for deferments and need to sit down with a lawyer.
