How many employees must a company have to be subject to the Fed & State laws reguarding employment?

Each body of law has its own minimums and certain exceptions there is no fast answer.
As an example, the Family Medical Leave Act generally applies to employers who have more than 50 employees, while the Fair Labor Standards Act (overtime pay) generally applies to all employers regardless of size - although certain exemptions exist.
