Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia
Im thinking about starting a class action lawsuit with DirecTV concerning this Viacom channel drop. My wife an I switched to directv about 7 weeks ago an I tried to call and cancel service because of our channel drop technically DirecTV voided our contract by dropping the channels we signed up for now they want me to pay 500 dollars to disconnect my service how is this legal considering they dropped the channels I signed up for at the beginning

How did they "technically void the contract?" What part of the terms and conditions of your account requires them to provide ANY specific channels to you for the duration of your service?
While DirectTV is the bad guy here and the way they treated their customers is despicable there is no likely basis for such a suit.
Read all the fine print on your contract. It gives them lots of discretion to add and change channels (as does every dish and cable contract). So you are at their mercy. So they didn't void the contract. They just treated you badly.
Here is my suggestion. Complain everywhere in writing - the FCC, the Better Business Bureau, online complaint sites (while they can't fix the proble, Dish does not want the publicity). In addition, send an express mail letter with return receipt requested to the CEO and tell him (politely) that under the circumstances you feel that you did not receive what you wanted and want him to personally make an exception and let you out of the contract. Make sure you send it in a way where HE must personally sign. In doing all that you'll probably find they'll do what customer service won't do.
BTW, you will likely find that your contract has an arbitration clause and class action clause where you waived your rights to both.
