workers comp
I work for a trucking Company in GA and I am a independent contracter/owner operator. The company is taking out for workers comp and I thought since I am a independent contracter I did'nt need it.

You may need it(the workman's compensation insurance, but if you're an independent contractor and not an employee of this company, it's not up to them to provide it by taking deductions for this insurance from your long haul earnings.
