Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

working hard

Last year my father-in-law ask us to move 2 hours from where we were living and working to take over his business So we left our jobs and moved he had a pawn shop and pecan business. I got all the licenses I needed for the pawn shop and have been running the business and paying all the bills on the building. Well now pecan season has arrived and my husband has been doing that part. Well my problem is that his half brother has called and says he has bought the business from their dad and we have a week to get out, his dad has not called or said this is the case. I have a signed agreement that states that we are leasing the building and that I will be running the business. His dad is mad at us for some reason, every since we have been here every month he gets mad about something and is always telling us to leave or something so, I want to think this is just another mood swing for him, but this time the half brother did call so I a worried about what we need to do this how we make a living and we gave up alot to move here and start over. Do we have to leave or what?

Re: working hard

Your rights depend on what contracts are in place (verbal and written) and their terms. The sale to your husband's half-brother may be valid, but you may have a cause of action against the father regardless. You may also be bale to recover at least part of your moving expenses depending on his promises.
