Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia
I was charged with a felony. Before I went to court, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. I eventually plead nolo contendre on the misdemeanor, but the charges never should have been a felony in the first place. Now, 3 years later, my record shows that I am a convicted felon. That I plead guilty to the felony and plead nolo to the misdemeanor. The judge even drew up a new document stating that the felony was dismissed and the new misdemeanor case took over. They still refuse to expunge my record for lack of evidence. I can't get a job because my record states that I am a convicted felon. What can I do about this?
