Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia
My father had bought a car using a loan company from a major car company. In October 2008 he fell into a coma but my mother resumed paying the car payments to the loan company. In May 2009 he passed away but my mother still continued to pay the car payments. She needs to register the car, would like to put it in her name. She called the loan company and asked for a letter to send to the tag office, after sending a death certificate of my dad and a marriage license they asked for and they refused saying that the owner needs to authorize her first. My dad who is dead is unable to do so and the car only has 2-3 payments left. She has not missed a payment. What should she do?

See a lawyer. With a little bit of legal help, she could easily take care of probate and transfer the car. She should have done that back in 2009. It can still be done now.
