Can a supermarket be responsible for gross negligence if 2 butcher knives are found unattended in a public restroom ?

Responsible for what? They probably need to clean the knives. Someone may have to clean the bathroom. All normal items on the checklist for a store. The store manager might be concerned and chew them out. Otherwise, what is your relationship to the matter? If you want a response you need to include the whole story.
