Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia

Threatened by the new wife?

The new wife of the ex is sending me nasty emails and copies to the kids. They are upset about having to pay child support. There is no telling what this person will do. Is there anything we can do to stop the harrassment? I feel threatened and nervous for our safety.

Re: Threatened by the new wife?

You have the option to request the court to grant a restraining order, but I'm not sure that they would grant it based upon your facts. Of course, I don't know what the content of the e-mails is/was. If they were drastic enough, you could get a restraining order and have them arrested for a terroristic threats.

Response to: Threatened by the new wife?

You need to report it to the police; it is probably best to go to the police station and make the report. Having such a report will establish a pattern and provide a record. You did not mention if this has happened before, if the threats were escalating, etc. If things escalate, you can ask for a Restraining Order. Because of the limited information you have provided, I recommend you contact an attorney to discuss the matter in more details.
