Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia
Videotaping for a commercial.
I am a manager of a ''public'' golf course. We ask a production team to come out and tape an image ad to promote the course. He went around the facility and videotaped the course and golfers in and around the facility. I had a mother and son see themselves on tv and now want to sue for not having their consent to film them. They asked to be edited out which i did without question. Do they have any legal recourse in a public place where no invasion of privacy occured? They were just shown from a distance. No conversation was recorded. Thanks.

Re: Videotaping for a commercial.
One may not use the image of another for commercial purposes without a release by the subject giving permission. A news photographic image is different in the law from a commercial photographic image. The latter requires a release which typically involves compensation, the former does not.
