Legal Question in Technology Law in Georgia

I have had my email address since Google offered gmail accounts. For the last few years now, I have been getting emails addressed for other people. The senders think they are sending to the correct address, but obviously they are not. example email address could be bsmith@gmail for Ben Smith. However, Betty's mom sends an email to Betty - thinking it's bsmith@gmail. Then Andrew wants to send an email to Bobby Sue and emails bsmith@gmail. And so forth. Many times, this happens repeatedly with the same person (not necessarily the same sender). As well, certain of the bsmiths themselves, take to subscribing to listservs and websites using my email address. I received emails stating I made a purchase on Amazon and it would be shipped to ... Another person made a purchase at REI and I got the receipt... To date, I have ignored the emails, written back saying "Thanks for the recipe mom." :), or going so far as to saying "Please stop." I am really getting tired of this. Can I sue the other 'bsmiths' for harrassment? It's 'my' email address and their continuing improper and fradualent use costs me time and money. For several, I do have their full name, home phone and address.

According to senders, I'm an Air Force officer, a stay at home mom (wrong gender), a college professor that assigns homework, a soccer player, and a canadian micro nutrients guy that travels across Africa for business.

Read your gnmail user agreement.

No youi can't sue. Either close your gmail account, learn to use it properly (you can train it to send repeat offenders to spam) or simply do what most users do - ignore their spam mail.

(This frankly is NOT a legal problem. I do think you may want to consider some counseling as to why something that is so trivial and happens to everyone bothered you enough to post this question. Until you get counseling I'd stay out of email)
