Legal Question in Technology Law in Georgia
I am a fan of a website on facebook. Recently several people were being verbally attacked for being a fan of the page. The person is using several different fake names and accts., and posting some very nasty comments. It crossed the line for me when he posted that myself and two other women were "child abusers" "child predators' "pedophiles" This I do not take lightly! I have copied and saved this information, the others have as well. What rights do we have, to find the true identity of this person, and make him pay for this horrible accusation? And how much will this cost?
Thank you,
Very Upset

You file a lawsuit, then try to get info from Facebook. It may or may not work, and the fees will easily be four figures.
Plan A: What you likely do not have is a legal problem. What you should do is twofold: (1) Remove yourself from the page on Facebook that is affected, and (2) Click on the link to report the problem to facebook.
Plan B: If you have several hundred thousand spare dollars to spare on a likely futile legal matter, see if you can find someone that will sue Facebook. To win a defamation suit, you not only need to show something is defamatory, but somehow find out who did it, hope they have assets, and then pursue a costly suit. Almost no such suits succeed, and the retainer, if someone would take such a case, would be astronomical.
