Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Georgia
Obstruction laws in Georgia
Our 14 year old daughter went to the movies and was standing up in the movie and the police man asked her to leave. He grabbed her and pulled her from her seat. He then took her outside of the building and was asking her what her name was and how old she was. She would not tell him so he Cuffed her and took her to jail for Obstruction. I am wondering if we should get a lawyer and or just go to court and pay the fine? What would the cost be for the fine?

As a general rule, you should have a lawyer when your rights are in danger. Of course, economically it doesnt always make sense. The sentence will depend on the charges and the prosecutors recommendation to the judge, although the final decision will be made by the judge.

Get a lawyer and contest this, if you are convinced your daughter did nothing wrong. You can't allow the police to simply harass your child and shrug your shoulders. It's not just about the money, but about your child's confidence in you, and whether you will stand up for her.
