police questioning
i want to know if there has to to be a a parent or gaurdian present when a police officer or sheriff questions a minor child

There doesn't HAVE to be, unless the child is arrested and is being interrogated. It may be good practice, but the police don't have to wait until a parent shows up to investigate a possible crime. Simply asking the child for what he or she knows on the scene as a witness is permitted.
