Legal Question in Construction Law in Georgia

Home Retailer Installation

what laws are governed by the home retailer industry, i.e., who would regulate Home Depto and Lowes? Who regulates the independent contractors, providing installation services, that work as independent contractors for these companies? Are they requried to be licensed?

Re: Home Retailer Installation

Interesting Question and the first like it I think I have encountered. Um. No one. At trial my partner and I have said: "It requires more licensing in Georgia to cut a dog's hair than to build a single family home." Is there someone like the AMA over Doctors (which is not the AMA, but state licensing) simliar but over Lowes and/or Home Depot? No. Perhaps the BBB. But they are worthless in a hard fight. Try the Superior Court of your local Georgia County. It is over everyone. Per the Subcontractors, I have not read the paperwork between HomeDepot and its Installers (because this stuff is fairly new), but I would bet good money that the paperwork between HD and its subs states that the subs are 100% responsible and HD is 0% responsible.
