Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Agreement to purchase from Classified Ad
I agreed to purchase a tanning bed from a newspaper classified ad. I called and agreed on the price, she said she would tell anyone else it was SOLD. I told her I would give her some of the $400 to ''hold'' it. She said no, that would'nt be necessary. I've been trying to contact her for 2 months to pick it up and she refuses to answer her phone or return my messages. Now she answered a text message and told me not to contact her again! She would press charges?! What?!! Can I file a claim against her?

Claimm for what? You may be able to spend time, resources, and a filing fee pursuing a claim for whatever "damages" you may have suffered for not being able to buy a tanning bed from an ad, based on a phone call. It'll be your word against hers, with (presumably) no other evidence. Seem like a good plan (even without getting to the issue of agreeing to buy something apparently sight unseen)?

No, of course not.
