Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Can an auto dealer have you sign papers on a vehicle, allow you to drive the vehicle home, take your trade in, and come to find out that the deal was never done, and they never paid off my trade, which put me behind. I called the dealer and they first told me that the loan was reassigned, then asked me to provide more check stubs which I did. At that time my new car was taken away, and put back on the lot for resale. I was told that the bank only wanted proof of my income, and that everything would be done. I was then told 3 days later that they could not get me approved, even though they had me sign papers. The dealer never contacted me throughout the duration of the month I had their vehicle. I only found out about the problem after my bank called asking about a payment on the vehicle I had traded in. When I called the dealer, I was given the runaround, and now I am behind on my car payment. What can I do?

You've learned a hard lesson in how NOT to buy a car. Read your paperwork closely and you'll realize what a huge mistake you made. Assuming yours is a typical contract, yoiu actually agreed to the deal whether or not financing was approved and are now in a real bind, as you are behind on your car, and also are in violation of your purchase is not arranging financing.
The ONLY was to buy a car is to go to your bank or CU first and get preapproved for a loan. Carry that paperwork to a dealer. IF the dealer can get you better financing fine, but if not you have avoided this problem.
If you are lucky, perhaps the dealer will be nice and let you back out of your contract. If they don't, you have a financial disaster on your hands.
One never goes to a car dealer and lets them obtain financing. You have given a valuable lesson to other readers here as many make the same mistake you did.
