Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Automobile deposit
I signed a contract and paid a deposit for a vehicle. The contract states that a person has 10 days to return vehicle for a full refund, but it does not say whether the 10 days begins from the date of signing the contract or from actually possessing the vehicle. I never picked up the automobile and informed the manager on the 13th day after signing the contract that I no longer wanted to purchase the vehicle. He stated that he could not return my deposit. Can he keep my deposit even though I never picked up the car?

Re: Automobile deposit
A definite answer would require reviewing the contract. However, your obligations likely started, and you were bound, when you signed the contract, and not when you pick up the car. Unless the contract states otherwise, merely refusing to pick up the car won't get you out of it. These are matters to understand before even thinking about signing a contract.
