Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Automobile Purchases
My daughter purchased a new car 30 days ago. The loan contract was for 4.9% through a major car dealer. The dealership went over all the information and her payment is due 45 days from purchase which is in approx. 15 more days. The dealership just called and said that there was a problem and the place that gave her the loan said they could not give her the 4.9% but had to up the rate to 9.9% since she had a limited credit history and of course this will increase the payment. Can they do this? We thought that the auto dealerships got approval prior to signing and this has been 30 days ago. We got no paperwork that said the rate was temporary or contingent on further review.

Re: Automobile Purchases
It sounds like your daughter may have a case but that is impossible to answer without reviewing the paperwork. She should consult with a local attorney.
