Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

Can a car dealership tell you you've been financed, draw up all the papers, take your downpayment, have you sign all the papers, let me drive the car home and 4 days later tell you the financing fell through? They had 3 different people call and offer me a "great deal" ($100 more a month. I live in Georgia btw

Sure. That happens all the time, and if you READ the paperwork, it is disclosed in the papers. You have signed what is often a scam - a conditional sales contract where you agree to buy the car and they ATTEMPT to place it with a lender. This is NOT how you buy cars. Even if the financing goes through, the dealer will often rip you off by charging higher interest than you would have got from teh same lender on your own. I you want to buy a car properly, you arrange financing and get preapproved before you hit the dealer. Then, if the dealer beats the rate you found fine.

But don't fall for the scam so many people fall for. They want you to take the car home, fall in love with it, and then agree later to a higher number and a worse deal.
