Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

Used Car Purchase

Do I have an rights as the purchaser if the sales consultant at the dealership told me the car was obtained on a trade in and I find out that the car was purchased at auction? Can the contract be void if false truths were initiated by the rep? Unfortunately I found out about the auction sale after the fact. Any info you could provide would be much appreciated!!

Re: Used Car Purchase

You failed to state how this information changes the condition of the car you purchased. Many auction cars are in better shape than trade-ins or private sales. If you had a question about quality, insisting on your own inspection would have given you actual information about the condition of the car.

Re: Used Car Purchase

What the salesman tells you is irrelevant, and the contract you signed will say that. If the written contract contains false information then you may have a case.

I don't see how it matters by what means the dealer got the car. However, if your contract specifies that the car was a trade-in, you may have a case, but I doubt it unless the condition of the car was somehow affected. Consult with a local attorney to review the contract.
