Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Consumer Law
I (alone) co-signed on a loan for my some to purchase business equipment (truck). The truck was wrecked and there was an insurance issue, which ended with the insurance only covering merchandise on the truck and not the truck. Since my son does not own property and I do, I am now being pursued. I was told today that my home (which is in both mine and my husband's name) was being assessed. My question is: What can I do to protect my assets?

Re: Consumer Law
What you should have done was to see a lawyer before you cosigned, as you would have known then what a disaster this would become. You may be able to seek some protection in bankruptcy court, depending on information you did not provide. You need a lawyer immediately, and should have already gotten one. You may very well lose your home. A lawyer MIGHT protect it in bankruptcy.
